The ground layer consists of cut pieces of fabric in about the right color and shape. On this ground the work is being 'painted' on the sewing machine with mainly zig-zag stitch, using transparent fabrics like tulle for shades and nuances.

In the folds of the skirt something is hidden - the nameplate of Gijs' schoolgarden and a text. The folds can be tied with a knot, to keep the symbols for the bride only. The backside of the little purse, on bodyside, is a portret of Gijs.
